We think my mare got shot?!?

i agree with snl on the first part; get a water bottle full of HOT water and gently squirt it on the wound. you may need to have someone to hold her, and another person to keep her calm while you do it. the put on some some neosporin and one of those really huge strong band aids. watch her for about an hour after you put it on and stop her when she tries to rub. after a while she will probably forget about it and leave it alone. keep her in a stall if you can, otherwise just cross your fingers and wait till morning.
