Job Search?

I'm recently unemployed, and live in the greater Dayton area, in Ohio. I have a 1 year trade certification in Multi-Skilled Maitenenace,and a Universal Certification from the EPA in Refrigeration. I'm having problems finding a job in my area. I'm sending out resumes on the net, constantly. It seems there is a bit of discrimination going on in the maintenance field. If you don't have 3 to 5 years of experience, alot of employers don't want to talk to you. I'm even willing to make a little less than what actual maintenance men get paid to just get the experience, and a job. This is a really depressing situation for me. Any meaningful advice would be appreciated. In the mean time, unemployment can't seem to decide whether not they are even going to give me unemployment.
