What is the best way to lather your hair?

should i put a little bit all over my head. Should i just put a blob on top of my head? should i start from the ends. should I put in on my head and stick my head under the water. i am using a concentrated shampoo and i am suppose to use less but i am having a hard time getting it to lather . i am using a lot of water and dont want to add more shampoo. what do you do?
