Not understanding concept of amping?

speakers. My speakers are 80W RMS per speaker and 420W Max. There are my 6X9s in the rear. My head unit puts outt 22W Rms. How is an amp of 50WX2 gonna make any difference? Will there be a dramatic difference if I amp them. I turn the fader to the rear and i turn it up and they distort really easily for some reason.
