Can apostates lead others to Christ?

They probably have some 'great" sin in their life that they are struggling with, and consider themselves as separated from God. They are under the misperception that even though you accept Jesus as Savior and Lord, you can be separated by sin from God. There is no pit so deep that God is not deeper still. They need to go back to the bible and study a bit harder because there's something they are not getting right. Easy enough.
